Zerrus Zimmerman

Status: Deceased

Country Of Origin: The Republic Of The Raven Order

Leader of The Owls Of Freedom. A Tiefling resistance group currently preparing to overthrow The Raven Order. After The Freebirds fled prosecution by the governments of Alquimia and The Merchant Republic for the assassination of Sofia De Luca, Zerrus awaited them at Freeport. Zerrus informed them that he held answers as to who was framing them for the assassination but would only trade the information in exchange for a audience with Shel Agronak. Reluctantly the group agreed and set out to find the missing Orc leader who had been in the Feywilds as a guest in Titania's court. On their return they told Zerrus she had perished while in the Feywilds but would arrange a meeting with her appointed leader,  Balan. Zerrus made a deal with Balan for a number of ships and supplies he could use to establish a foothold in The Republic Of The Raven Order. Afterwards he informed the group that they had been framed by a group called The Torchbearers, an ancient society that has ties to the earliest days of The Merchant Republic. Zerrus has intel on a few of The Torchbearers. Most importantly Micheal Wise, current leader of The Raven Order, is one of their members. Hoping to clear their name The Freebirds travel with Zerrus to Reactor Ein to help him overthrow The Raven Order.

While The Freebirds would be successful in their missions Zerrus would in secret build a number of bombs using the notes of his great grandfather Klaus Zimmerman. Eventually Zerrus would raid the capital using a captured armored train. Zerrus, Dragonfly and The Freebirds would attack the The Peoples Chambers where he and Dragonfly cleared the building while The Freebirds tracked down and killed Michael Wise. On the roof of The People's Chambers he waited for the group and revealed his connection to Klaus and Reactor Ein. He recounted how he saw the ethnic cleansing of the Tieflings first hand and how he swore to eradicate the Raven Order in return. With him on the roof was one of his bombs which he claimed had the power to eradicate the entire capital. In the ensuing battle Zerrus would inject himself with pure Irin granting him additional strength and speed at the cost of his own health. While the Freebirds would defeat him he would get the last laugh as he revealed that the bomb on their roof was a dummy bomb and the other Owls were planting similar bombs all over the city. Aware he was dying as a result of his Irin injection he gave Klaus's research notes to the group and asked them to use them for good. At that point the bombs would detonate, Zerrus and The Freebirds would be taken to the realm of Schmiede. When the Freebirds were returned to The Material Plane Zerrus' Body was nowhere to be found. His mission however was successful and the capital of The Raven Order was destroyed along with their government.
