Fire Beard's Pirate Commune
History
The Rise Of Fire Beard
A promising young office with the Telma Navy, Gavriil Agnidis would eventually grow tired of working for corrupt admirals. Deciding to abandon his post Gavriil would round up a number of other young naval recruits and lead them under a new pirate banner. For five years Gavriil would find himself unopposed on the seas due to his knowledge of the Telma Navy's military playbook.
In 2971RH the Telma military would lure Fire Beard into a trap. While Fire Beard's flagship would manage to escape he would lose the other three ships in his fleet. Deciding that this ambush was a little too close for comfort Fire Beard would decide to flee to a number of uninhabited islands north of Ilyran Thalas and stake out his claim by forming his own pirate commune.
Founding Of The Commune
In order to secure his lands Fire Beard leveraged his notability in the pirate community to send word out. Any and all pirates and children of the sea would be welcome to rest and repair their ships at his islands so long as they would answer his calls for aid in the future. An estimated 20 thousand pirates from a large number of crews would arrive at the islands and sign Fire Beard's Pact. An agreement that within the established borders of the commune there would be no infighting between groups, in addition any military ships spotted within the borders should be reported immediately. Further more whenever the commune was in need of defending all available pirates should make their way to the commune to assist in repelling attackers.
Disbanding Of The Commune
Following The King's Uprising the commune disbanded after word of Fire Beard's defeat spread across the chain of islands.
Geography
The islands in the commune are notorious for being difficult to traverse, long sand banks and jutting rocks created a barrier only seasoned seafarers would be able to navigate without a map. The actual islands are mountainous in nature and feature a number of natural caves that pirate crews of long ago would use for hiding treasure. Fire Beard originally settled on an island he would call Haven. Haven is considered the closest thing the commune has to a capital.
Politics
Fire Beard is the de facto leader of his commune but is famous for listening to his fellow captains and getting their opinions on how to handle issues and craft laws.
Economy
A safe haven for pirates would naturally attract all kinds of merchants. Shipwrights, food and drink vendors and black market fences are staples of all towns in the pirate commune.
Demographic And Culture
Piracy is a profession that attracts all walks of life and the diverse people of the commune reflect that. On a cultural level Commune parties are famous for being massive. After all what's the point of having coffers of gold if you don't spread the love around? Commune Founding Day is famous for the richest captains blowing large portions of money to host competing parties for nothing more than the acclaim that comes with throwing the best party.
Religion
Many non pirates think that the pirate commune is a god-less hell hole of debauchery and heathens. In reality the pirate commune has become something of a amalgamation of all the world's religions. Due to limited land space people tend to use a single church to worship which ever deity they would have back home. As a result some pirates have begun to worship all eight gods for various reason. Some find it quicker to talk to all of them at once, some legitimately believe in all eight now and some are just covering all their bases.
