Alquimia
History
Before the country was founded Ricardo Alquimia would found his academy in 246RH with a grant from Alexander Hawk. In 1356RH a large number of meteor's crash landed into their lands, obsessed with the idea of traversing the skies; the already extraordinary minds of Alquimia set their sights on exploring the stars. The country's laws and policies are largely dictated by The Alquimia Academy, led by Headmaster Victor Espanio. The Alquimia Academy spends night and day tackling complex problems and experimenting with new forms of magic. The Academy's original founders recognized that the best way to secure funding for more experiments is through taxation. As such an entire wing of the academy is dedicated to social work and the country's welfare. The country is split into 4 smaller counties each one run by its own Gerente, a type of land manager who is given the authority to run their counties as they see fit. Most of the economy of Alquimia is based around supporting the academy. Nomadic villages that drift to wherever students of the Academy are setting up in the field is the norm in Alquimia.
Geography
Alquimia is notable for running the entire length of Lluvia Pesada, something neither of its neighbors can claim. Alquimia features heavy woods along the Grote Boosen border and wet marshland along the Telmian border. Inland Alquimia features winding rivers and flatlands that flood during wet seasons.
Politics
Alquimia's is mostly run by the governing wing of the Academy. Alquimia is split into four separate counties each one ruled by a Gerente, a type of lord who serves as a liaison between the Academy and the people. Above all Gerentes is the Academy's headmaster, Victor Espanio.
Headmaster Victor Espanio
A former top ranking student, Victor was elected after Javier De Luca died during The King's Uprising. Having just recently finished a research trip investigating old Dwarven ruins in Ther Thorum.
Raul Val
Ex-Head of the academy's physical education and sports wing. While very few students at the academy elect to pursue the physical arts many are required to take a phys ed class every semester at the behest of the academy's founder who believed that great minds flourished in the great bodies. Raul Val became famous in his younger days by dominating the most popular sport in Alquimia, amateur wrestling. Raul is well known by his alter ego, El Muro, a hulking opponent who is famous for his iron defense. Raul is Gerente of the southern most county.
Therasia Daza
Therasia Daza was the former head of the academy's botany wing. A walking encyclopedia of plants, Therasia is less occupied with running her county and more interested in fulfilling her dream of operating the worlds first botanical garden. Therasia is Gerente of the northern most county.
Roberto Arroyo
Former student at the academy and one of the brightest minds to come out of the academy. Roberto is famous among students of the academy and scholars around the world for his work with the Astral Plane. While the Astral Plane was not a unknown concept Roberto was the first to be able to create a stable portal that could be powered on and off on command. While the practical use of this portal has yet to be revealed Roberto theorized that it could be used to ascend to the stars. Robert is Gerente of the county that borders both Grote Boosen and Telma.
Leone Moretti
A bard who rose to prominence after writing a ballad called Freebird. A chronicle of the chaotic escape of a group who assassinated Sofia De Luca. Leone's ballad would become so popular the people of Alquimia would elect him to fill the seat left by Javier De Luca. Following The King's Uprising Leone would write another popular ballad titled "Mad King's Suicide"
Economy
Much of the economy is based around the academy. Naturally the largest academy in the world requires a lot of goods to keep its students happy and healthy. Most of the supplies the academy acquires are from local suppliers from within the country. Many people even camp outside the gates of the academy and follow students and scholars when they leave for expeditions so they can set up camp and provide the students with everything they need.
Demographic And Culture
While the academy will recruit anyone who shows promise Alquimia contains a mostly human population and the nomadic beast tribes that roam the island continent of Lluvia Pesada. Folks who aren't academy students or faculty are simple farmers, merchants and nomads. Most everyone who lives in Alquimia is a huge fan of the countries national sport, wrestling.
Religion
The God that most people in Alquimia worship is named Doblar. Many farmers will ask for blessed rain, not so much that the lands flood but just enough to water their crops. Students will pray to Doblar for help on exams and experiments. Doblar is often associated with storms and the wind as well as practical knowledge. Often depicted as a traveling scholar who blesses crops that he passes by.
